HS4 BLE and BlueNET – Firmware Update

What is the purpose of the firmware update?

Description of the issues:

  1. Sudden interruption of the BLUEnet communications: access points connected wirelessly to gateways/nodes (SPACE) or IQs (KS) stop communicating and do not recover a connection. The locks will work in a standalone/offline mode.
  2. BLE mobile key opening cannot be performed: users with Android 12 devices cannot use a BLE mobile key using JustIN Mobile, the JustIN Mobile SDK, or the KS app. This does not affect Apple devices or older versions of the Android OS. Android 12 devices can use the NFC option for mobile keys.

Resolution Steps:

To resolve the issues, the firmware on the lock must be updated using an NFC enabled PPD (a non-NFC PPD won't work). The steps are summarized below:

1. Update the firmware of the PPD to 02.22. This ensures the correct sequence is followed for the updates.

2. Load the PPD with the control module firmware (depending on your lock) and the BLE module firmware.

3. Turn the PPD on at the lock and navigate to FIRMWARE UPDATE. Click Ok.

4. Update the firmware by holding the back of the PPD to the reader. Keep holding until you see the completion message 

O If you receive an error message or don't know if the firmware update was successful, use the PPD to perform a firmware update once more. 

 

SALTO ProAccess SPACE installations:
 
Please refer to the folder linked below for detailed instructions and the firmware files for your ProAccess SPACE installation. Make sure you know which lock you are updating as the XS4 Original+, NEO and XS4 ONE all have different firmware. If you have a combination of units, you may upload all applicable firmware files onto the same PPD.
